Tamay is a technologist, entrepreneur, and AI researcher whose work bridges cutting-edge research with real-world applications. He earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Munich in 2019 with highest distinction, receiving both the Nokia Bell Labs Best Student Award and the Kurt-Fischer Doctorate Award. Shortly thereafter, he was chosen for the Junior Research Group Program at the Max Planck Center for Visual Computing and Communication. He became the youngest visiting assistant professor at Stanford University since 2002 and led the Visual Computing and Artificial Intelligence Group at the Max Planck Institute.
Throughout his career, Tamay has made influential contributions to AI through peer-reviewed publications and multiple patents. In 2020, he co-founded CareX.ai and served as its CTO, before joining the AI Subcommittee at Harvard University’s Wyss Institute from 2021 to 2022. He later took on the role of CTO at Snowcrash, spearheading the development of an AI/blockchain platform vetted by Sony Music, Universal Studios, and National Geographic (Disney).
In 2022, Tamay founded Sureel Inc., a groundbreaking venture in explainable AI featuring patented attribution technology. Sureel’s platform empowers AI systems to accurately determine and allocate real-time, percentage-based credits to intellectual property rightsholders, ensuring creators and labels are fairly compensated for AI-generated content. In turn, AI developers gain access to high-quality, risk-free datasets and can secure privileged data over time creating a mutually beneficial ecosystem that redefines the way we innovate, protect, and collaborate in the age of artificial intelligence.
