EVP of Content,
MWMi (Madison Wells Media Immersive)
Ethan Stearns serves as the EVP of Content at MWM Interactive (formerly MWM Immersive), the division of MWM that produces and publishes story-driven interactive entertainment. In his role, Stearns spearheads all of MWMi's projects, including video games and VR experiences.
Prior to joining MWMi in 2017, Stearns served as the VP of Virtual Reality at Legendary Entertainment where he spearheaded a number of high-profile interactive cinematic experiences for both virtual and mixed reality. Working alongside acclaimed Hollywood directors such as Guillermo Del Toro and Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Stearns saw multiple VR projects through to fruition, including an immersive experience for the film “Pacific Rim” and the first-ever Academy Award-winning VR project, “Carne y Arena.”
Stearns has overseen content production for MWMi projects such as “Chained: A Victorian Nightmare,” an immersive VR theater adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol; “War Remains,” an immersive VR experience narrated by Dan Carlin of the Hardcore History podcast that transports audiences into the trenches of the first world war; and has partnered with Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) and Tequila Works on “Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son,” a VR game that takes place in the world of the iconic 1993 film.
Stearns is one of the foremost experts in the field of virtual reality, and he sits on the XRDC Advisory Board. His innovative work continues to push the boundaries of content development and storytelling, exposing existing and new audiences to the world of immersive entertainment.
