Mike Bebel

Music industry veteran and digital music service entrepreneur with more than 20 years of global operating experience. Since June of 2016, Mr. Bebel has consulted for several digital media and entertainment companies assisting with strategic planning, forecasting, operational development, business development, music licensing and music industry relations. From May 2015 to May 2017, Mr. Bebel was the Chief Operating Officer of MixRadio, LTD, a division of LINE Corporation, where he led the product management, product marketing, engineering, global music industry relations, music licensing and content programming teams that successfully scaled the highly-rated MixRadio music streaming service across 31 countries serving millions of active listeners. Prior to that, from August 2009 to April 2015, Mr. Bebel held various digital entertainment leadership positions at Nokia, Inc. and Microsoft where, among other accomplishments, he developed and launched the MixRadio service. Prior to that, from January 2008 to June of 2009, Mr. Bebel was the Chief Executive Officer of Total Music, LLC a joint venture between the Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment.

From August 2006 until January 2008, Mr. Bebel was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ruckus Network, Inc., a digital media service serving college and university students across more than 100 campuses nationwide that he successfully merged with Total Music in 2008.

Before that, Mr. Bebel spearheaded the development of a peer-to-peer music platform as the Chief Executive Officer of Mashboxx, LLC from September 2005 until July 2006.

Prior to that, Mr. Bebel led the development of and launched the legal version of Napster as the President and Chief Operating Officer of the company in 2003 and 2004.   

He had served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Pressplay, an early digital music subscription service, since its founding as a joint venture between the Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment in May 2001. Prior to that, Mr. Bebel was an Executive Vice President at the Universal Music Group where he led numerous digital initiatives including the formation of the joint venture with Sony that launched Pressplay. Mr. Bebel holds an MBA in finance and economics from Binghamton University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
