Javon Frazier is a marketing executive with over a decade of experience spanning all areas of the media and entertainment industry, including film, television, broadcast, video games, publishing, music, and mobile. He is a proud native Angeleno, born and raised in Los Angeles, and a graduate of Brentwood High School. He graduated from U.C. Berkley in 2000 with a Major in English and Minor in African American Studies, and he credits his liberal arts education for teaching him to articulate his ideas clearly, pushing him to the center stage as the frequent presenter in his classes.
To further his education, Javon embarked on a west-to-east coast journey and attended Stern at New York University to pursue a career in the Entertainment Business. He graduated in 2005 with an emphasis in Media Entertainment and Marketing. During his time at Stern, Javon became the first Black Student Body President at Stern Student Corporation, governing over 2,600 MBA students.
After a brief stint at Atlantic Records, Javon returned to Los Angeles to work at Marvel Studios in Business Development and helped launch Marvel’s first self-produced film Iron Man, the launchpad for the now $17+ Billion Grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Javon followed this already amazing achievement with continued success in multiple departments at Marvel Entertainment for over 8+ years. First as the Marketing Director for Marvel Television, where he developed worldwide marketing plans for all Marvel television properties while directing international distribution and launched a number of popular animated television series including Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Super Hero Squad. And finally as the Vice President of Games Marketing, where he was responsible for creating the marketing strategy for all of Marvel’s video game products Javon oversaw over 40 games on all platforms worldwide grossing over $600 Million including popular hits like the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes franchise, Deadpool, Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes, and a personal favorite of mine, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Post Marvel, Javon forayed into digital entertainment with Studio71 US as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development. Among his most notable projects was the Kickstarter campaigns for Binding of Isaac: Four Souls and the Cyanide and Happiness Joking Hazard, which collectively generated $6 Million. He also oversaw the launch of the Natural Born Pranksters film, which reached the #1 comedy spot on iTunes in the U.S. and the #2 movie overall on the US iTunes charts, beaten only by a little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens during its release window.
Javon has sat on countless panels and conferences including Digital LA, the New York Games Conference, and even introduced Deadpool at San Diego Comic-Con.
In addition to his vast career accomplishment, Javon is also an active member of Black in Gaming and frequently promotes minorities in the gaming and entertainment industry. He also is a Professor of Strategic Marketing here at UCLA Extension, teaching future leaders the intricacies of creating marketing plans. Javon even hosted a case study competition where classmates competed to present their ideas to the Laker’s legendary forward, Metta World Peace.
Javon is also a loving husband and father of his two daughters, his personal great success story. He also takes great pride in his passion for music, and you can even hear his dope beats as under Mad Maestro Productions.
