Get your technology in front of an audience that matters. DEW is attended by hundreds of leading entertainment, media and technology company executives and investors. If you are an entrepreneur with an innovative game, music, video, advertising or publishing product or technology, you have a unique opportunity to pitch to an all-star investor and media company audience.

The DEW Startup Pitch & Competition showcases the latest technological advancements in digital entertainment including game, video, publishing, advertising and music as well as social, mobile and web technologies and platforms. DEW is looking to identify innovative startups with products and technologies contributing to consumer engagement, experiences and monetization of digital content.

12 startups will be selected to make live presentations on stage during the conference. Each selected startup will present to a well-vetted panel of investors and VCs from:

IDG Ventures, Comcast Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Manatt Digital Media Ventures, Draper Associates, Clearstone Venture Partners, CrossCut Ventures, Rogers Venture Partners,, StartupEngine, New World Ventures, Siemer Ventures, Baroda Ventures, William Morris Endeavor, Creative Artists Agency and Signia Venture Partners

Each company will present for 8 minutes and then answer questions from the investor panel for 3 minutes. After hearing all the pitches, the judges will review the ballots and select the winner. The winner will be announced on February 19th at 6pm.

Entry Deadline: Closed


  • Eligible startups must have a demonstrable product or service in the market (or in beta).
  • If your startup has received external funding, it can only be funding up to $2MIL USD.
  • You must be prepared to talk about your product and service in public and have it recorded for public broadcast.

Judging Criteria

Our panel will be looking for creativity, innovation, need in the marketplace, strength of team and presentation, and likelihood of success including profitability.

Awards & Prizing

The DEW Startup Competition Winner will receive a prize package valued at over $74,000 including:

  • A $25,000 investment from Manatt Venture Fund in the form of a convertible note.
  • Professional and business services from L.A.-based law firm Manatt, Phelps & Philipps   LLP ($25,000 value)
  • A full year of free hosting service on Rackspace ($24,000 value)
  • An invitation to the San Francisco office of IDG Ventures for a two-hour consultation with senior partners of the firm.

Each of the 11 finalists selected to compete at DEW will also receive $1,000 per month in free hosting service for 12 months on Rackspace ($12,000 value).
